Well, I have been out and about the last few days having fun in the sun. No not on the bike but hey can’t always be on the bike now can we!!
Spent a few days looking at some of the histerical … I mean historical sights around the Kent area of the UK.
First went to a place called Deal Castle which is just past Sandwich. Yes I know you want to know if we had lunch there. No!! We had lunch in Deal in a little Inn that was in the middle of town after going through the Castle. It is more a small fort than a castle but who am I to argue with the English and their names.
After that a little further down the road we saw Walmer Castle. Walmer, like Deal is right on the coast and as a result the wind coming off the ocean was a little bit on the chilly side as well as little bit on the strong side. The castle though is extremely nice and is great to walk around. not too much in it mind but still fascinating to see the size of the walls and the manner in which people had to live in the not too distant past in some cases.
Walmer is renoun for its gardens, and these don’t let you down. They are quite brilliant actually. Nicely formed and well groomed. Even though it was blowing a gale there wasn’t too mnay leaves or branches on the ground.
A local came out and wasn’t too keen to share his lunch with us but that was ok as we had already had something to eat. not sure that I like the restaurant that he frequents either.
How did we get around? In the smallest car we could find. A little Citreon C2. Not really the smallest we could find but I think it was close ….
