We rolled out of bed at a reasonable hour this morning before heading off to look around Endrimet for a bit. We saw a local village that hasn’t changed too much in many years and it was very quiet and peaceful … until we turned up that is! We walked around looking at the buildings and the cemetary that was near by. At first it was freaky as to how old the people were when they died. I mean 1373 to 1990 … now I think even methusala was younger than that. Then we found out that the DOB was most likely based on an old calendar depending on the beliefs of those buried. Interestingly, when you die in Turkey, the State takes care of the funeral expenses and no coffin is used. You are normally buried the same day too! Now that is service.
We have to congratulate the Osman too for his driving, it was a narrow road to get up and it was pretty steep too and that includes the drop on the side of the road too! He knew how to drive a bus that is for sure. Wonder if he was a Taksi driver before that as they seem to know how to get around too!!
We made our way down to the sea again and went to a carpet place where they talked to us about the carpets and the Kilims (prayer mats). It was interesting to see the carpets and the different meanings behind them. The really interesting bit though was the price of the carpets!!! Nothing below 500USD.
After this we made out back to our accomodation so we could rest up for a bit and then get some dinner before making our way back to ANZAC Cove to stay the night in preparation for the Dawn Service and the services held later that morning.
